Across Camas School District, high-quality instruction is helping students build the skills, confidence, and curiosity they need to succeed now and later. From early academics to college and career pathways, students are reaching important milestones that demonstrate effective teaching, real-world learning, and high expectations for all.
This work reflects the district’s dedication to creating meaningful learning experiences that help every student succeed.
“What makes this work so powerful is seeing students grow in confidence as they take on challenging learning,” said Superintendent John Anzalone. “That growth reflects the dedication of our educators and the commitment our students bring every day.”
At the secondary level, Camas High School received Silver recognition on the 2025 AP® School Honor Roll, highlighting its dedication to expanding access to Advanced Placement courses and supporting student achievement. More students are taking on challenging classes, earning qualifying exam scores, and graduating with college credit, which broadens future opportunities and lowers barriers to higher education.
Students across the district are excelling on state assessments. In 2024–25, more than 88% of Camas students met or exceeded grade-level standards in English Language Arts, with similarly strong results in math and science. These achievements exceed statewide averages and demonstrate consistent, high-quality instruction across all grade levels.
Learning goes well beyond the classroom. Students from Hayes Freedom and Discovery High Schools took part in Dozer Day®, gaining hands-on experience with heavy equipment and interacting with industry professionals in construction and skilled trades. These real-world interactions helped students see how classroom lessons relate to meaningful careers that contribute to their community.
“These experiences help students see clear connections between their learning today and the opportunities they’ll have tomorrow,” said [insert teacher name, title].
At Discovery High School, freshmen practiced advanced scientific thinking by exploring genetics with CRISPR, a state-of-the-art molecular biology tool. Through project-based learning, students worked together, debated future possibilities, and honed problem-solving skills that prepare them for college, careers, and innovation-driven fields.
Together, these achievements tell a powerful story: when students are challenged, supported, and engaged in meaningful learning, they succeed.
These successes highlight the district’s strategic goal of achieving high academic standards through robust instructional support, promoting continuous improvement, and success for all students.
