student with trophy

Please join us in congratulating Varun Subramanian, a 5th grader from Prune Hill Elementary, who delivered an outstanding performance at the Washington State Elementary Chess Championship in Tacoma on April 26! Varun won 4.5 out of 5 games—earning a tie in his final match—and placed 5th out of 171 players in the highly competitive 5th-grade division. Way to go, Varun!

We also want to celebrate Ethan Ng from Grass Valley Elementary, who represented Camas proudly in the 3rd grade category. Participating in a statewide tournament is a remarkable achievement, and we’re so proud of both students for their hard work, dedication, and love of the game.
