Dog sitting on a bench

Skyridge Middle School now has a Buddy Bench thanks to the Camas–Washougal Rotary, which funded and installed it. A buddy bench is a simple tool designed to combat loneliness and spark friendships. When a student sits on the bench, it signals that they’re looking for someone to connect with, and classmates are encouraged to invite them in. It normalizes asking for company, builds inclusivity, and helps students practice kindness, empathy, and social skills.

It’s also a natural fit with our facility dog program, which supports students who need a calming moment. Elka is pictured here enjoying the new seat!
