In just three years, Camas High School senior Ella Thompson went from never playing organized volleyball to committing to a top-25 NCAA Division I program. With a background in track and field—and the leaping ability of a high jumper paired with the arm speed of a javelin thrower—Ella quickly found her stride as an elite outside hitter.
Ella capped her high school career by helping lead the Papermakers to their third consecutive state trophy and earning a spot on the Class 4A all-tournament team. She averaged nearly five kills per set this season, was named Greater St. Helens League MVP, and earned The Columbian’s All-Region Volleyball Player of the Year honors. She will continue her volleyball career at the University of Miami-Florida. Beyond the stats, Ella credits volleyball with helping her chart her own path, build strong friendships, and contribute to a positive, growth-focused team culture—one that helped raise the standard for Camas volleyball. #SelfEmpoweredLearner
