A young student started her day by asking her mom, “I wonder what I’ll be great at today?” I love that glass half-full optimism that exudes from our youngest students.  I asked students what they thought they’d be great at Friday morning. Students answered  painting, reading, math, recess, and one said, “I’m not sure yet.” This assume the best spirit aligns perfectly with our focus on Caring, Quality, and Growth–our why!

I’m not sure what happens as we get older, but sometime the question “I wonder what I’ll be great at today?” takes a more glass half-empty tone for students and adults.  Our challenge is to develop the assume the best spirit as part of our classroom, schools, and district culture.  That spirit certainly leads to opportunities for HOPE & JOY.

I hope you have a fantastic week!
