JOY and HOPE are intimately connected and are powerful gifts we can give our students, perhaps the most powerful! One of the very best parts of being involved in public education is the JOY and HOPE students give us each and every day! The past few years we’ve featured stories that highlight the HOPE and JOY in our district. Let me know if you have any story suggestions. Thanks for helping us share the HOPE & JOY each week!
To say that recess is a student favorite is a bit of an understatement. Students love recess! Last week, after smoke led to three straight days of staying inside, EVERYONE was ready for recess.
Three days…THREE DAYS!!! Five-to-eleven-year-olds at school without recess. THREE DAYS of teachers inviting students in fifteen minutes earlier than usual and providing activities for kids during lunch recess. Flexible thinking, optimism, and perseverance were put to the test. JOY abounded across our six elementary schools Friday with the first outdoor recesses of the year!
Thank you, everyone, for a great first week. Your flexibility and creativity made all the difference! Happy week 2!
