This past week our classified employees celebrated their 50th year as a part of the Public School Employees of Washington with a celebration Tuesday evening at Hayes Freedom High.
Our classified employees provide essential services in all aspects of our district. Some of those services have changed over the years. President Susan Wambolt shared at last week’s school board meeting that there were positions like cafeteria hostess and laundress in the first contract. Today we don’t have a hostess position, but staff do serve in diverse roles centered on supporting students. Whether it’s ensuring our facilities and resources are ready for learning, or transporting, feeding, caring, or instructing students our classified staff make a difference every day. For some students that need a little extra help to engage in learning, classified staff really become a part of the student’s family.
We appreciate each and every one our classified staff members and wish them a happy 50th!
Here’s to the HOPE & JOY you help create this week!
