It was an amazing graduation weekend starting with Grad Walk at our elementary schools and Liberty and Skyridge. This tradition gives graduates a chance to visit their elementary and middle schools in cap and gown and be celebrated! There were a few tears from teachers seeing these students again ready to head out as graduates.
On Friday night, over 500 Camas High graduates walked across the stage at Doc Harris, and on Saturday 39 Hayes Freedom High graduates were awarded their diplomas at Liberty. There’s nothing like seeing students waiting for their name to be called. There’s a nervous excitement in anticipation of the big moment. With family and friends cheering and handshakes and hugs, they transition from students to alumni.
These students made us a better school district. They impacted us with their talent, passion, humor, and enthusiasm. We are better for having them in our classes and clubs, on our buses and teams, and every day in our hearts as we tried our best to serve them. I like to believe that when people get a chance to learn together, they carry a piece of each other inside of them. As these students go out into the world beyond our district, I hope they take the best of us with them. Congratulations, staff, on sending off another class of students!
