General Information

We use the following texts: Daily Oral Language, Sourcebook, Skyridge Middle School’s Reading, Writing, and Research Guide, WASL practice information, Worksheets from Reading Comprehension Skills and Strategies, Word Study and Phonics and reading selections from The Wild Side and High Point Level C. Additional materials will also be used for reading and writing. We will be writing several paragraphs and essays this year.

Vocabulary and spelling will include five to ten words per week that will include a pretest, definitions, correct usage, additional activities of the student’s choice and a final test Friday.  Daily journal entries will be written. These are at least three good sentences long and twice a week, extended response is written. Homework is given on Tuesday and Thursday. It is usually a study sheet on vocabulary, grammar or specific reading strategies. All work is scored and inserted in the grade book. Parents and students may access student grades online.
