I've been a teacher for over 20 years (hard to believe), and I've always enjoyed it.  Each class is different and each student is unique. Coming from a background in psychology, I'm endlessly curious about my kids and their abilities to learn, cooperate, and mature.

Camas is my home.  I enjoy the small town nature of our little city.  I like seeing friends and acquaintences at Safeway or Riverview Bank....or Subway... or wherever.  (Of course, I'm seldom dressed as well as I'd like to be when I run into people!)

I grew up in a small town in California.  My dad was a doctor and my mom was an at-home mom.  Times were simpler then...hula hoops, cherry cokes, princess phones, pick up sticks, and gas for under a dollar.   I have a younger brother, Curtis,  who also lives in Camas with his wife, Valorie.

I was married to a United pilot, Dick Holt, who died of a heart attack in 2000. Life was very difficult for awhile.
Now  I have a "significant other", John Matthews.  He works at Portland Community College as a retention specialist.

My daughter, Jody, graduated from Camas High School in 2007.  She's living on her own and pursuing her dream of managing a hotel in Sydney, Australia.

My cats' names are Sammy and Buddy.   Each day is a new challenge for them.  Fred, my fish, swims gleefully in his bowl, happy that the two cats aren't smart enough to notice him.  The three of them are in a competition to see who has the more elegant name.

I enjoy traveling to strange places to have strange experiences.  I'm looking forward to Skydiving in June.
I've rafted the Amazon River in Peru where I fished for and caught a pirahnna fish. (They really do have more teeth than body.)
I've gone hot air ballooning and picked a pinecone off the top of the tree.
I've walked on fire barefooted.
One of my favorite places is New Zealand...I have friends who are coming here to visit this summer!
I rafted the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon on my 50th birthday...I want to do it again!
I'm now exploring Mexico as a 6-month-a-year home when I retire.

In addition to traveling, I enjoy reading, golfing, laughing, and seeing friends and family.
