Dear Families,

Welcome to First Grade! You will find that this is a year of incredible growth and fun for your child. I can’t wait to get started! Below are a few bits of information that might prove to be helpful for the upcoming year. If you ever have any questions please feel free to call me. I enjoy teaching first grade students. I try to be responsive and supportive. I want students to feel safe in my classroom so that they are not afraid to make mistakes. I set a good example by making several mistakes each day—students always catch me! I want my students to begin to love challenges and develop persistence in solving problems.

I would like to encourage you to send a small (12 oz.) bottle of water to school with your child to keep on his/her desk throughout the day. If at all possible it would be great to have the pop-top bottles to minimize spills. Brain research shows that hydration is a very important part of being ready to learn. Also, by keeping them at our desks each child will be able to meet their own individual needs.
