Welcome to JDZ Title 1 Reading Lodge
Title 1 Reading is a supplemental support program for students who read below grade level.
It includes:
- Small-group instruction (4-6 students)
- Reading strategies (decoding, fluency, comprehension)
- Phonics instruction
- Reading for meaning
- Reading for enjoyment
Does my child need reading support
- Comprehends, but does not read accurately
- Reads the words, but does not comprehend
- Decodes at a tedious, labored pace
- Gets low scores in reading
- Does not read for enjoyment
Frequently Asked Questions:
How is my child recommended for the program?
Initial screening tests are given n the fall to indicate if a child is reading below grade level and may need intervention. Also, you may recommend your child for testing or palcement in Title 1 at any time during the school year.
Will my child miss out on other subjects?
No, every effort is made to schedule Title 1 sessions during non-snstructional classroom time.
How do I know when my child is ready to exit Title 1?
Your child will receive progress reports each trimester documenting growth and anecdotal information regarding specific learning targets. Any movement in or out of the group will be a joint decision by students, parents, and/or teachers.
