Advanced Placement Government students from Camas High School recently traveled to Olympia, where they met with Representatives Brandon Vick and Liz Pike, and Senator Ann Rivers.
Before the trip, each student researched a topic currently up for a vote, and then wrote to one of the leaders about why it was important to them.
The 48-student group toured the capitol and the governor’s mansion, sat in the gallery and watched voting on amendments to the education bill, and went on a photo scavenger hunt of the capitol campus.
“One group even ran into the governor and got to shake his hand,” said teacher Kristi Bridges. “They were pretty excited.”
