Black History Month

Posted: February 17, 2017

In the United States, February is Black History Month, also called National African American History Month. In Camas School District, it is a special time to reflect upon the struggles, achievements, and legacy of the African Americans and black Americans who have come before us.

Today, our students live in a world filled with powerful reminders of black history, from the Oscar-nominated film Hidden Figures to news coverage of Nelson Mandela’s grandson visiting a Chicago high school this week. In Camas School District, we strive to ensure the contributions of black Americans and African Americans, past and present, are neither fleeting nor final, but woven through teaching and learning the whole school year through.

Please join us in celebrating Black History Month 2017.
