Admissions

A parent information meeting regarding the magnet program will be held at the CHS Theatre at 7 PM on Thursday, February 4, 2010. Parents of current eighth grade students who may be interested in applying for the magnet program are encouraged to attend.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are eighth grade students who have completed or will complete Algebra I or higher with at least a B letter grade by the end of the 2009-10 school year. The selection process includes a review of overall GPA, an entrance exam, a completed application, and an interview as well as teacher recommendations.

Of the 30 positions available within each cohort, initial slots will be reserved for eligible Camas students; however, entrance of students from outside the district is possible if space is available.

Admissions Criteria

• Application Questionnaire(Round One Consideration, due 3:00 p.m., February 12, 2010)
• Teacher Recommendations (Mathematics, Science, and English faculty required - one more is optional)
• GPA (Average GPA for Mathematics, Science, and English for previous two academic years)
• Academy Entrance Exam, On-demand Writing Prompt, and Interview8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2009, at Camas High School in room 707-708
