Because the first years of a child’s life are the years of greatest growth, early learning lays a foundation for all future learning in a student’s life. In Camas School District (CSD), we recognize and support opportunities that give young children experiences that shape new learning. Our preschool instructors collaborate with our elementary schools to ensure a continuum of support for the “whole child” — a child who is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged academically, socially, physically, and emotionally.

CSD Guiding Beliefs

  • We value early learning as a place to foster joy through experimentation, exploration, discovery, challenge, and interaction. Through spontaneous activity, play, carefully prepared materials, and guided experiences, children learn and thrive.
  • We believe that relationships with students and their families are the bridge between home and school.
  • We are committed to instructional best practices that develop independent, confident learners who discover the excitement and challenge of learning in school and throughout their lives.
  • We believe in the unique needs of early learners and support building foundational skills in academics, social–emotional, and fine and gross motor for the whole child.
