· This is a voluntary program. · Program goals: 1. Increase individual cardiovascular fitness. 2. To set personal and class goals. Have fun! · Tips: 1. This is a walk –run program so take it easy when you want to. 2. If you are running try to pace yourself. (side ache, cramps, pain = walk and breathe). 3. Take a friend with you and you will be more successful. 4. Take time to stretch or jog slowly at first. 5. Have fun! · Rules: 1. You must report to the playground assistant who will have the lap tickets. 2. Listen for the final lap announcement by the playground assistant. (No new laps can be started) 3. If you complete a lap, you will receive a foot ticket. 4. Put the ticket in a safe place like deep in your pocket or in a sock. 5. Do not trade tickets or run laps for someone. Student giving tickets away will lose all laps earned to that point. 6. A half ticket will be worth nothing! 7. Tickets will be turned in to your class teacher/recorder. 8. Class teacher/recorder will return the tickets to the office. 9. Your teacher will chart the information and give you a plastic foot for each 20 laps completed that means that you have completed 5 miles. When you have 20 plastic feet you can trade them in for a big foot. When you earn a big foot you will get a PTA T-shirt and be part of the One Hundred Mile Club. · More than 100 miles - School record attempt. · Top boy and girl runners will be presented a school trophy for the most laps in a school year. Medals will be given for 2nd and 3rd places. |
