Text Box: After a one year tour through Europe, Canada and the U.S. performing in “Up With People,” Natalie Wilson received a Bachelor’s in Music Education degree at Western Washington University .  She immediately joined the Camas School District in Washington State where she has taught since 1984.  Natalie also earned a Master’s of Science in Education degree from Portland State University.  

For 18 years Natalie conducted award winning choirs and vocal jazz in grades 6-12.  In 1994, she directed the Camas High School “Jazz Mechanics” on a European tour and a performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival.

As an elementary teacher since 2001, she has directed jazz choir in grades 3-4 and 5-6.  Currently, Natalie is teaching K-5 elementary music appreciation and JDZ JAZZ!!  for grades 3-4-5.  In 2006, JDZ JAZZ!! performed at the IAJE conference in New York and at the WMEA and NW ACDA conferences.  She also consistently has had students at all levels performing in state, NW and national honor choirs.  

Natalie has been a presenter for Washington State and NW Music Educator’s Conferences with sessions on Elementary Vocal Jazz Concepts.  She really enjoys her work as a Clinician and Adjudicator throughout the Pacific Northwest at Choral and Vocal Jazz Festivals.  

Natalie was honored with the Women of Distinction Award in Education by Soroptimist International.  She has been published in The Choral Journal, the Jazz Education Journal and Voice magazine.  Her original vocal jazz charts are published by Sound Music Publications.  She is an active member of the Music Educator’s National Conference (MENC,) the International Association of Jazz Education (IAJE) and the American Choral Director’s Association (ACDA.)
