Making way for the new Hayes Freedom High School

The old district office building comes down as we make way for the new Hayes Freedom High School. Set to open next fall, HFHS will have capacity for up to 250 students and will be one of the most energy-efficient schools in the state. HFHS will:

  • Be 80% more efficient than typical NEW high school
  • Achieve overall LEED Gold Equivalent;  100% of LEED Energy Points
  • Have energy savings that almost double the maximum LEED rating (Platinum) and WA Sustainable School Protocol
  • Receive over 40% of its energy from renewable sources (over 3 times maximum LEED rating)
  • Be "Net Zero" ready – which means it will have the potential in the future to add additional renewable sources to eventually produce more energy than the building consumes.

  • Stay home if you or your child is sick for at least 24 hours after there is no longer a fever or signs of a fever (without the use of fever-reducing medicine). Keeping sick students at home means that they keep their viruses to themselves rather than...
