Accountability and Assessment Data

Our district remains committed to ongoing measurement and feedback about student progress toward high standards. The state of Washington now has specific standards or achievement targets in all subjects. These “Essential Learnings” form the core of our curriculum.

WASL Assessment

Students are regularly assessed relative to these state standards through the use of the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL). These tests are administered in grades 4, 7, and 10.

WASL Science Assessment

Students are also required by state law to complete a state assessment of science knowledge. New science benchmarks have recently been developed and testing relative to these standards occurs in grades 5, S8 and 10.

District Assessments

Our district also collects ongoing data about student performance tied to our own curriculum and standards. Students complete district-developed demonstration tasks in a variety of subjects on an ongoing basis.

OSPI

If you are interested in learning more about this reform effort, excellent information can be found at the Washington Education home page.
