It helps to have some previous experience with jumping over things and to not have a fear of hurdles when starting.

It's best to stretch your hamstrings extremely well before attempting to even learn to jump over the hurdles.

Training with the sprinters should be a common act if wishing to do the 100m hurdles and for the 300m hurdles practicing with the distance group is acceptable as well.

Believe it or not, hurdling in high school requires skill, determination, and some height. There are many techniques needed in order to improve, from learning to jump with alternating leading legs to using the 5-step or 4-step. Posture while jumping over hurdles is also a priority for the fastest times possible. All this plus more will be discussed in order to develop the ability to hurdle throughout this How To page. Have fun and I wish you the best of luck in learning how to hurdle!!
