Students will learn basic drawing and painting techniques including 1-point perspective, shading, line drawing, line design, graphic drawing, landscape, portraiture, figure drawing, watercolors, acrylic, color mixing, color theory, and composition. Focus will be on development of skills and techniques, which will be followed by creative personal explorations.
ADVANCED DRAWING AND PAINTING 3-4
Credit: 1.00 (may be taken for 0.50 credit) Fine Arts, Elective
Prerequisite: 1 year of Drawing grades 10-12; $15/semester, $30/year

Students will learn advanced drawing and painting techniques. This course will focus on drawing and painting as a form of creative personal, social, and cultural communication. Work will be done in a variety of mediums including graphite, ink, charcoal, watercolor, acrylic, house-paint, and anything else we can find to use in the making of exciting art.
CERAMICS 1-2 (Beginning Sculpture/Pottery)
Credit: 1.00 (may be taken for 0.50 credit) Fine Arts, Elective
Prerequisite: None; Fee $15/semester, $30/year

Students will learn to transform 2-dimensional ideas into 3-dimensional form using a variety of media including clay, paper, wire, paper-mache, and cloth-mache. Finished work will vary from miniature to life-size.
CERAMICS 3-4 (Advanced Sculpture/Pottery)
Credit 1.00 (may be taken for 0.50 credit) Fine Arts, Elective
Prerequisite: Beginning Sculpture/Pottery or Ceramics 1-2; Fee $15/semester, $30/year
Major: Visual Arts
Students will continue to develop their 3-dimensional skills. Emphasis will be on creativity and originality. Students will also learn to throw pottery on the wheel.
MIXED MEDIA

This class is designed to explore a variety of interesting art mediums. It will start by doing projects that will build simple design and compositional skills. The first part of the class will focus on a variety of traditional drawing and painting mediums - such as pencil, oil pastel, marker, acrylic paint, etc. Later in the class, we will involve more mediums and also do some three-dimensional work. The second part uses things like clay, paper, wood and wire. The goal is to introduce a variety of materials and encourage you to mix and combine them into complex and interesting artworks.
