SW Washington (ESD 112) is one of the nine regions in Washington State who participate in the WA State Knowledge Bowl program, and 26 of our regions' high schools are involved.

In SW Washington, we field a total of about 36 varsity and 39 JV teams. Some schools field more than one varsity and/or more than one JV team, but most schools field one of each. These teams are divided into three leagues geographically -- the Columbia Gorge League (with 9 varsity and 12 JV teams); the Clark County Metro League (15 varsity and 15 JV teams); and the Lower Columbia League (12 varsity, 12 JV). Teams compete in four league meets (round robins which involve all teams in that league) during the regular season -- once each in November, December, January, and February.

At the conclusion of the regular season, all varsity teams compete at the Regional Meet, which is held at Lower Columbia College in Longview in late February. Divided into groups according to WA state athletic size classification, the teams compete to qualify for the WA State Meet in late March. All teams that qualify for State earn a trophy.

The top 9 JV teams (out of all 39 JV teams in the Region) are invited to compete in the JV Tournament, held at Mark Morris High School on the same day as the Regional Meet. The top three of these nine teams earn a trophy.
