What is the Camas Athletic Booster Club?
The Athletic Booster Club is a non-profit, all-volunteer group of parents, educators, and community members dedicated to raising money to help support athletic programs in the Camas School District.
What are the Booster Club goals and philosophy?
Our goal is to work with the Athletic Director to support the development of outstanding athletic programs that cannot be fully funded through traditional means. Our philosophy is that everyone in the community has a stake in public education and athletics, and that active participation in funding our schools athletic programs builds a better partnership between a community and its schools in building our children’s skill base.
When was the Booster Club created, and what have they done so far?
The Foundation was formed in the fall of 2001. Initially, efforts focused on creating the organization, obtaining legal status as a non-profit foundation, developing operational guidelines, and providing basic concessions support. We also spent a great deal of time investigating “other Booster Clubs”, talking to our Athletic Directors and coaches, to build a deeper understanding of the funding needs of our school district and other Clubs successes.
We now operate with a 10 member Board of Directors. Our major sources of income have been from an annual sign sales program, concessions and clothing sales, and our new Tom Wallenborn Golf Classic. We will be adding next year a bi-annual Hall of Fame dinner.
How are the Athletic Clubs funds spent?
We work directly with the Camas High School Athletic Director on prioritization and use of dollars for items that are not included in the Camas School District Athletic Budget. |
